Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a universal art of natural healing and is a gentle non-invasive energy technique and was rediscovered in Japan during the early 1900’s, Reiki spread throughout Japan and then the world. Reiki is not massage, hypnosis or a tool for diagnosing illness, but a technique that addresses both chronic and acute conditions, gently and powerfully promoting balance among all the body’s systems and the regeneration process of body and mind. A treatment feels like warm gentle sunshine, which flows through you, surrounds and comforts you.

Many ancient cultures believed, and recent research strongly suggests that energy does extend throughout and beyond the physical body, and that disruptions or imbalances in its flow correlate to physical, mental and emotional illnesses. Continual stress can block the body’s natural ability to repair, regenerate, and protect itself from sickness.

Reiki is an energy healing treatment that works holistically on the whole body, mind and spirit and is a relaxing treatment whereas natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner (acting as a conduit) to the body of the recipient. This allows people to feel less stress, enhances learning and memory, promotes mental clarity.

After you receive a Reiki session you will feel a rebalancing process and often during a session can fall asleep which is similar to an REM sleep response. This is a nurturing response and not offensive to a practitioner it actually is a compliment.

It’s often asked how many treatments is best to receive. A general rule would be three to five Reiki treatments one to two weeks apart. Once you see yourself improving you can space out treatments to one per month or six weeks apart. Receiving regular Reiki treatments is excellent self-care and helps you to maintain a holistic balance. At times of deep depression, anxiety and stress or chronic illness, continued treatments as mentioned are extremely beneficial.

Some basic principles Reiki encourages within is daily is to always be grateful because to feel gratitude is to be thankful for all of the circumstances in your life. Let go of worry, anger and be kind to others and mostly yourself because what you feel and see in yourself you see in others.
Reiki is not just a natural healing technique for humans but for animals as well and brings about much relaxation and calmness to animals that have high anxiety and trauma especially with abandoned animals and should be considered for them as well.
